I already have a degree and would like to use it

We count on the skills you already have - and on your qualifications. Here you can find out whether your professional qualifications need to be recognised and which office is responsible for this.

In Switzerland, only certain regulated professions require that you have a degree or a diploma. However, although it is important to prove you have the relevant work experience, many employers also want you to have a relevant degree or other suitable qualifications, even in non-regulated professions.

It is possible to have your existing qualifications recognised for various professions. In addition to the technical requirements that must be met, you may also be required to prove a certain level of language proficiency.

The procedure for recognising professional qualifications takes a certain amount of time. You may be asked to take a course to make up for differences between your qualification and what is required in Switzerland.

Various organisations can support you in having your qualifications recognised. If you have any questions, please contact your canton of residence.
